Washington County TN BOE approves displaying Ten Commandments in each school
The Washington County Board of Education unanimously approved displaying the Ten Commandments in a prominent location in each school within the school system. The Tennessee General Assembly passed a law in May that allows local school boards to do so. It also allows for the display of the first sentence of the second paragraph of the preamble to the Declaration of Independence, and the preamble to the United States Constitution. Board members said the displays would not be posted in each classroom, but only in one location at each school. The board will decide on the next steps for what a prominent location will entail.
