The Minnick School in Wise County announces closure
The Minnick School in Wise County has announced it will be closing after 15 years of serving students with special educational needs. The Minnick School, owned by enCircle, is a private day school licensed by the Virginia Department of Education and has facilities tailored for special education. The Minnick Schools’ vice president of operations, Terri Webber, told WJHL that the decision was made to close after losing money due to a student-absentee policy. According to a media release from enCircle, the school has lost more than $90,000. As the announced closing date of October 9 approaches, Webber said that there is a plan in place for the students currently enrolled.
