Sheriff: Seventh grade teacher at Jonesville Middle stabbed by student

A seventh grade teacher at Jonesville Middle School was seriously injured in their classroom Thursday morning when one of their students attacked them with a knife.

According to Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons, the weapon used was a cutlery knife that was possibly taken from the school cafeteria. The Sheriff said the teacher’s injuries were non-life threatening but will require stitches.

Parsons noted he is consulting with Commonwealth’s Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin on what steps to take with the juvenile involved in the incident in terms of the criminal charges. The student is in custody and Parsons said no further information would be released while the case remains under investigation.
