Washington County VA Courthouse reopens after closing due to air quality

The Washington County, Virginia Courthouse is operating again at full capacity as of Monday following nearly a month of closure due to what leaders say were concerns about the presence of microbial growth inside the building. Officials say the facility is fully operational and back open to the public as of Monday morning. The courthouse was first shut down on Aug. 21 after an air quality study was performed. BELFOR Property Restoration was contracted to complete the work. Initial plans were to reopen the courthouse in late August but the closure had to be extended after additional testing. That prompted the Supreme Court of Virginia to declare a judicial emergency due to the issues on September 3.
