TCAT Elizabethton officials indicted by grand jury for misuse of college services, funding

Two executives with the Tennessee Center for Applied Technology’s Elizabethton campus face criminal charges following indictments based on a Comptroller’s Office investigation.

The state report said John Lee and Mark DeHart made out with more than $1 million in funding and use of services to benefit a private business they co-founded to provide training, complete projects, and use college equipment and personnel for financial gain.

Comptroller Jason Mumpower said the TCAT case was the result of not having effective management since the problems were caught by auditors with the Board of Regents.
