I-81 crash snarls northbound traffic Monday afternoon

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that a multi-car crash on I-81 near mile marker 40.2 shut down the left lane and shoulder in the northbound lanes Monday afternoon. The THP report says a tractor-trailer rear-ended a 2001 GMC 3500 that was stopped in the left lane due to congested traffic. The tractor-trailer then came to rest in the median. The GMC, which was hauling a fifth wheel camper, was pushed forward, forcing it to jackknife and made impact with a Chevrolet Equinox towing a trailer. No injuries were reported.
