SWVA public schools meeting or exceeding state expectations

Public schools in SWVA are exceeding the mark. Newly released state report cards show that more than half of all schools in Southwest Virginia crushed state expectations. In Washington County Public Schools, students outperformed the statewide average pass rate by nearly ten percentage points in elementary reading and more than ten points in math. Meanwhile, neighboring border counties like Scott, Lee, and Bristol City helped drive the region’s growth system. The Virginia Department of Education reports corner-to-corner academic recovery, with Region Seven ranking among the highest performers in the state.
