JCPD fires officer after TBI theft investigation
The Johnson City Police Department has let an officer go after learning that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was investigating the officer on theft allegations. The district attorney’s office notified the department of the investigation on September 29. Johnson City Police Chief Eric Dougherty, in a statement, said that due to the nature of the allegations, the department expedited an internal affairs investigation. The officer was terminated within 24 hours of the JCPD learning of the investigation.
