Wise County police make arrest after Thursday armed robbery in Norton

The Norton Police Department says it is investigating an armed robbery that happened at Norton Tobacco & Vape on Thursday. Officers spoke with a victim who informed them that the suspect fled in a vehicle. Wise County Sheriff’s Office then located the vehicle in Wise County and conducted a traffic stop and took the driver, Hunter Patrik Beatty, into custody. Beatty has been charged with robbery with a weapon and brandishing a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school. Beatty was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.
