Gas prices still elevated in East TN and SWVA compared to a year ago
Commuters across East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia are looking at a mixed bag at the pump today. According to the latest GasBuddy survey, statewide prices in Virginia fell over twelve cents this week, dropping the average down to four dollars and four cents. In Southwest Virginia, regional stations are hovering right around the four dollar mark for regular unleaded. Meanwhile, drivers in East Tennessee are seeing slightly cheaper options. In Johnson City, cheap spots are checking in at three dollars and eighty-one cents a gallon. Experts note that while regional price-cycling is bringing brief relief, these averages remain over a dollar higher than this time last year.
