Tennessee Can No Longer Revoke Driver’s Licenses For Failure To Pay Court Costs
The State of Tennessee can no longer revoke drivers licenses from people who cant pay their court costs. That word comes from a federal judge. Court fees support the criminal justice system but are also a significant burden for many people who cant pay the fees and therefore lose their license. In January, of last year, a lawsuit filed by two men was granted class action status. The ruling now means more than one hundred thousand people in the Volunteer State can start the process of regaining their driver’s license.
