Kingsport Alderman Fail To Approve Motion To Relocate Downtown Main Street Power Lines
A five and a half million dollar upgrade to downtown Kingsport’s Main Street is closer to getting off the ground now that city leaders have decided not to spend three million dollars to relocate power lines in the area. A resolution that would have relocated the lines across the street or to the other side of the railroad tracks did not move forward. Mayor John Clark called the decision a flat out disaster, setting the city back 20 years with development of the stretch of roadway in the heart of the Model City. The majority of alderman said the decision to not relocate the lines was simply to costly.
