Southwest Virginia Man Gets 65 Years For Brutally Murdering Bed And Breakfast Owner

More than two years after police found a Saltville Bed and Breakfast owner beaten to death and placed in a septic tank, a Southwest Virginia man is sentenced to 65 years in prison for the murder. 40 year old Nathaniel Shane Prewitt of Swords Creek Virginia in Russell County beat 61 year old Robert Vollmer to death with a hammer. Vollmer received at least 19 lacerations to his skull at the hands of Prewitt. Another man, Christopher Wright of Meadowview Virginia was sentenced to five years in prison for accessory to murder after the fact. Vollmer, apparently employed the two men at his Saltville Bed and Breakfast.
