Contura Announces Tenative Deal For Mines in Wyoming

Contura Energy has announced they’ve acquired two Wyoming mines in a $90 million dollar deal with FM Coal.

The Bristol, TN company announced earlier this week that is has reached an tentative agreement that would allow them to acquire and operate the Eagle Butte and Belle Ayr mines, while simultaneously paying off a $13.5 million dollar debt owed to Campbell County, Wyoming. This news comes on the heels of a federal judge’s approval in August by Contura for bids of the Wyoming mines along with another mine formally owned by recently bankrupt Blackjewel.
