Virginia House, Senate pass bill aimed at better facilitating COVID-19 vaccine administering

Virginia lawmakers are working to greatly expand the distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations by allowing eligible health care providers to volunteer administering doses.

Both chambers have passed bills which prompts the department of health to establish a program which would allow these eligible healthcare providers to register and receive training on how to administer the doses. It further requires VDH to streamline this process by granting entities like medical facilities, hospitals, businesses, and pharmacies the chance to volunteer their facilities for administering doses.

Local lawmakers including Delegate Israel O’Quinn and Sen. Todd Pillion are among those that presented the bill before the state legislator, who passed the measure with near unanimous approval.
