Hawkins Inmate Charged With Breaking Neck Of Cell Mate
An inmate in Hawkins County, receives additional charges after being accused of breaking the neck of a cell mate and paralyzing the the man after an altercation in the county jail earlier this summer. 32 year old Clarence Cleeves Commerford is accused of punching 45 year old Scott Mitchell Stanley not long after Stanley was placed in the cell with Commerford. After being punched, Stanley fell backwards hitting his head on a cell door, breaking his neck. The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department was not aware that Commerford and Stanley were on bad terms when officers placed Stanley in the cell with Commerford.
