Study Reveals 500 Million Dollars Needed To Fund Nearly 20 Interstate 81 Improvements

A recent study of Interstate 81 from Bristol to just beyond Wytheville has identified nearly 20 road improvement projects. That’s the easy part, the difficult job will be to try and find an estimated 500 million dollars to fund the projects should they be approved. Numerous methods of how to generate that kind of money have been discussed including toll fees for large commercial vehicles and increasing the fuel or sales tax along the southwest Virginia 81 Corridor.
