Sleeping Neighbor…Awakened By Noise…Rescues Family From Burning Home

A family in the Indian Springs community near Kingsport is lucky to be alive thanks to the efforts of a sleeping neighbor who was awakened and came to their rescue. Leigh Ann Miller and her family were awakened by the banging on her door coming from her neighbor, James Sluss. Sluss, had been asleep and was apparently awakened by the noise of an automobile’s tires bursting from the heat of the house fire. No injuries were reported and the blaze is thought to have started in an automobile parked adjacent to the home located on Blarney Road. The home was totally destroyed by the fire.
