Local State Representative in Tennessee Named Deputy Speaker
A local legislator in Tennessee has earned a high ranking position in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
On Thursday, Jonesborough Representative Matthew Hill was named Deputy Speaker. Hill is one of the longest tenured house members, serving in the state house since 2005.
As Deputy Speaker, Hill’s duties will include scheduling and guiding the flow of legislation on the House floor, assisting House Speaker Glen Casada in House administrative decisions, chair the House Ethics and House rules committee, and serve as a liaison to both local and national legislatures.
