Trial set for former THP officer indicted on bribery charges

A trial date has been set for a former Tennessee Highway Patrol officer accused of bribery.

Court records show Ray Lee Stubblefield is charged with three counts of bribery of a public servant and three additional conspiracy charges. He was indicted in the case last November, as state prosecutors say Stubblefield accepted bribes in exchange for referrals to truck repair businesses. Stubblefield worked for THP for 21 years before being fired in September, officials say.

Stubblefield is scheduled for trial beginning May 12th in Greene County Criminal Court.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol officer who manned a weigh station on Interstate 81 in Greene County has been indicted on bribery charges.

Court records say Ray Lee Stubblefield, Jr., 49, is also facing three conspiracy charges. State prosecutors said Stubblefield accepted bribes in exchange for referrals to truck repair businesses. He is scheduled for arraignment on January 10. A statement from THP Communications Director Wes Moster said Stubblefield was fired on Sept. 12 for gross misconduct following a 21-year career.
