Sheriff: Death of Wise County, Virginia native in North Carolina ruled a homicide

The death of a Wise County, Virginia native in North Carolina is now being investigated as a homicide.

A report obtained from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Goldsboro said the body of Renee DuVal, 29, was found inside a crashed car on January 29. A preliminary exam by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined DuVal’s cause of death as a murder. Her unborn child also died as a result of her injuries.

DuVal’s burial was last week in her native Virginia and a GoFundMe account has so far raised more than $3,200 to help her family with funeral expenses.
