VDOT sets hearing for proposed widening of Interstate 81 in Bristol

The Virginia Department of Transportation has a public information session scheduled to discuss proposed changes to portions of Interstate 81.

VDOT is considering widening southbound lanes between exits 7 and 10 and extending the northbound merge lane from exit 7.

While extending the merge lane northbound, the project would also widen a portion of the interstate southbound from mile marker 8.1 to 9.7.

The session will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn Bristol Convention Center at 3135 Linden Drive.
