Train fatality reported in Russell County

One person is dead after an incident involving a train Sunday evening. Russell County Sheriff Bill Watson said it happened near the intersection of Morefield Bottom Drive and Railroad Avenue in Dante. 56-year-old Johnny Harold Clark of Lebanon was identified by Virginia State Police as the victim. CSX train operators reported Clark was lying on the tracks and struck just after 6:30 Sunday evening. The crossing was shut down for several hours. The investigation continues.
