CCSO proposes use of restricted funds for new equipment/officers

A proposal by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office allocates money from the county’s restricted funds to purchase equipment needed for additional officers. Carter County Sheriff, Mike Fraley, hopes the effort will save residents from having their taxes raised. Sheriff Fraley understands people have suffered hardships as a result of Hurricane Helene. Since 2022, the sheriff’s office has taken more than $570,000 in grant money in an effort to keep the county from having to raise taxes.
