Senator Tim Kaine visits Lee County Community Hospital

Senator Tim Kaine toured the Lee County Community Hospital on Thursday. Senator Kaine was concerned about how federal cuts will impact rural health care. The hospital was reopened in 2021 with Kaines help, and since the passing of President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” in July, he’s been working on legislation to combat cuts to food assistance programs and health care. Kaine agreed with some of the legislation in the bill, even some of his own legislation was included, but voted against it because cuts to Medicaid and other programs were too severe. In response, Kaine has introduced the Improving Care in Rural America Reauthorization Act, which will try and regain some of the federal grant programs that have been cut.
