Hurricane Helene relief funds included in new TN budget
Included in the new $58 billion budget passed by the Tennessee General Assembly are multiple types of Hurricane Helene relief. The new budget allots $3.7 million for grants to continue Helene recovery efforts. Additionally, $1.5 million was earmarked to replace three fire engines that were lost during the hurricane. Fire engines lost by the Roan Mountain, Elk Mills-Poga, and Hampton-Valley Forge volunteer fire departments will each receive $500,000 for the replacements. Nearly $1.3 million for Elizabethton and $5 million for Carter County will also help cover the cost of continuing Helene recovery efforts. Mountain City also received over $500,000 and Johnson County was allocated $3,275,000 to assist with covering the cost of flood recovery efforts in those communities.
