Friends on social media express sorrow for Gray shooting death victim

The Johnson City Police Department confirmed in an agency report that Dalton Spalding, 25, was the male victim in a Friday shooting at a business off Bobby Hicks Highway.

A JCPD official said at Friday news conference that Spalding and another man were arguing over a parking space near a retail business when the shooting occurred.

Monday’s announcement also said no charges have been filed at this time and the investigation was ongoing.

The investigation continues into a Friday morning shooting in Gray that left one person dead.

According to several social media messages online from his friends, the victim was identified as 25-year-old Dalton Spalding. The only details released by city police on Friday said the two men were arguing over a parking space.

A potential suspect was taken into custody at a retail shop off Bobby Hicks Highway. A statement from city police Monday afternoon said no charges have been filed.
