North Carolina couple accused of Walmart thefts in multiple states captured
A Washington County, Virginia investigation uncovered an extensive retail theft enterprise operated by a North Carolina couple at area Walmart stores.
A Sheriff’s Office report said Kayla Electra Watson, 35, and Ricky Denning, 34, of Raleigh, posed as Walmart Spark delivery shoppers, selected high priced merchandise like Shark vacuums and Keurig coffee brewers, then exit the store—a pattern investigators picked up on that eventually led to Watson and Denning named as suspects of multiple Walmart thefts in several states.
The two had swiped more than 200 items over that span, resulting in losses of $37,000, according to the report. Watson and Denning, now in custody, allegedly stole over $1,900 in merchandise from Walmart in Bristol and Abingdon earlier this month.
