Man charged with second degree murder in Smyth County

The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man has been charged with second-degree murder following a shooting that happened on Thursday. Deputies responded to the 400 block of Dry Cove Lane. Michael Stonewall Blevins was found dead and 26-year-old Skyler Lee Chance Hughes was identified as the shooter. Hughes has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and is being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
