Virginia Tax Free weekend set for August 1-3

As Tennessee prepares for this weekend’s tax free back to school shopping, residents in Virginia will get their turn from August 1-3. The Virginia Department of Taxation notes eligible items include school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items and more. All school supplies that are priced at $20 or less per item are eligible, as well as clothing and footwear that is $100 or less per item. Hurricane and emergency preparedness products that can be tax exempt include portable generators, gas-powered chainsaws and accessories, and other specified hurricane preparedness items that are $60 or less. Energy Star and WaterSense products bought for noncommercial home or personal use also qualify.
