Carter County starts new EMS/Firefighter pilot program to cover rural areas

The Carter County Emergency & Rescue Squad announced Tuesday that they launched a EMS Rescue/Firefighter pilot program with two full-time EMS Rescue/Firefighters volunteer fire departments around the area. The pilot program will strengthen emergency response capabilities in two of Carter County’s most rural communities. One will be assigned to Elk Mills/Poga Volunteer Fire Department, and the other one will be assigned to the Roan Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
