Tentative trial date set for Carter County murder case
A trial date has been tentatively set for the three people charged in relation to a body found buried in a freezer in Carter County. Joey Guinn and Jim Chambers are both charged with first-degree murder in the death of 64-year-old Edward Elliott in 2024. Guinn and Chambers will be tried together. Amanda Quillen was charged with accessory after the fact and will be tried separately. The three suspects appeared in court Thursday morning with a trial date being set for August 24-28. The court noted that another trial could be scheduled for the same time, and a backup date might be needed. The next court appearance for the suspects is scheduled for August 10, at which point the court will determine whether the trial will begin on August 24 or if a different date will be scheduled.
