Norfolk Southern to resume freight rail service between Bulls Gap and White Pine
Norfolk Southern will resume freight rail service on its BL Line between Bulls Gap and White Pine. The line has not seen regular train traffic in eight years. The company announced Tuesday that it is preparing to reopen the 17-mile rail line this Friday. The line is expected to carry around five trains each week, primarily coal trains, according to the railroad. Norfolk Southern is asking drivers, pedestrians and community members to stay alert at crossings and near railroad tracks. The BL Line was built in the late 19th century to carry coal from coal mines in Appalachia to customers in the Carolinas.
