VA Senator Mark Warner unveils new healthcare proposal

Virginia Sen. Mark Warner has released newly proposed healthcare legislation that he hopes will lower costs for Virginians. The plan includes repealing parts of the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” that Warner says will lead to Virginians losing their Medicaid coverage and also makes enhanced premium ACA tax credits, which are meant to make plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act more affordable, permanent. Warner says that the plan will save Virginians money because more people would be covered and wouldn’t have to use emergency room visits for uncompensated care. The plan also calls for the creation of a public health insurance option and to accelerate Medicare’s ability to negotiate prescription drug prices. Warner noted that he doesn’t expect the plan to pass anytime soon.
