Inmate walks out of Sullivan County Jail, arrested minutes later
An inmate was arrested within minutes after he left the old section of the Sullivan County Jail Wednesday morning, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. Around 11 a.m., a deputy saw a male inmate acting suspiciously. The deputy followed the inmate, and additional deputies responded to assist. The inmate, 20 year old, Hibraime Alberto, was taken into custody by 11:15 a.m. in the 1500 block of Highway 394 in Blountville. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, that at no time was there any danger to the public. Alberto was originally arrested last month on misdemeanor charges that included display of registration plates and possession of stolen property and was being held on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer. The incident remains under investigation.
