Sullivan School Budget To Fund Additional SRO’s
A proposed 84 million dollar Sullivan County School budget for next year has funding to hire an additional 14 School Resources officers to join four already in place at each county high school. The school systems share for the first year cost is just over 350 thousand dollars. The additional officers will be enough to provide SRO’s in all school buildings with students but not necessarily for each individual school. Last week, due to a lack of funds for additional SRO’s Lee County Schools became the first system in the state to arm teachers in the classroom beginning this coming school year.
