Republicans rally around Trump following updated Facebook ban decree

GOP lawmakers rallied to the side of former President Donald Trump after news broke of his continued ban from the social media platform Facebook.

US House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy compared Facebook to a Democratic Super PAC in his reaction while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said liberal supporters should not celebrate the Trump ban because they could be the next to be silenced.

Virginia Senator Mark Warner hailed the decision by Facebook’s advisory council which he said should stop Trump and foreign leaders who used the social media outlet to sew seeds of misinformation and provided a platform for bullies.

Several media reports say Trump is preparing to launch his own web platform. He was banned from Facebook following the Jan. 6 pro-Trump riot at the US Capitol.
