Speed limit changes coming to Mary Patton Highway

The speed limit on Mary Patton Highway will be lowered. Mary Patton Highway in Elizabethton will be lowering the speed limit, according to city officials. The request came from city council in a May meeting. The police and street and sanitation departments decided to lower the limit from 50 to 40, due to traffic accidents and planned developments. In addition to the speed limit changing, the street department will also change the dashed street lines to double yellow making it a no passing zone.
